Your thesis or dissertation is first and foremost an act of imagination – what story am I going to tell and how best to tell it? To get inspiration it is useful to look at other examples (see our exemplars tab). This can help with design and construction – after all, if you were building a house you would want to learn about the whole and the parts from others. In many ways the ETD can be thought of as a virtual guest house open to visitors.
The great advantage of the electronic medium is that it can enhance expression and explanation through incorporation of audio, video and other formats where appropriate. As yet nursing has been slow to do so – supervisors and students often default to the traditional. However other disciplines show us the way. Have a look at their exemplars and save yourself and the reader a thousand words of description that would be better spent on analyses!
