Featured nursing ETDs

In this section we give links to innovative and/or exemplary nursing ETDs. We are particularly keen to feature some which exploit more fully the possibilities of electronic formatting, but these seem difficult to find, so please let us know about any!

However, good writing will always be at the heart of an exemplary thesis. To kick off this section, here is a link to a new ETD where narrative is key to understanding. In this qualitative tradition, writing in the first person is common and authors will often set out their position by explaining their own past and present. Steve Smith’s 11 page preface is (we think!) a fine example of how to draw the reader in through story telling. Have a read and tell us what you think.

Smith, S (2015) Becoming: an analysis of narratives describing the experiences of nurses who have undertaken training in solution focused brief therapy. Available at: https://openair.rgu.ac.uk/handle/10059/1220
